Merger Frequently Asked Questions


1. When will the merger be completed?
We are anticipating the merger to go through during the second quarter (April thru June) of 2008.

2. Will my bank be changing its name?
Yes. The names and logos of each bank will be changing. Once the merger is complete our new name will be: The Farmers and Merchants Bank of Western Pennsylvania N.A.

3. Will I still see and be greeted by the same tellers when I conduct my transactions?
Yes, all personnel will be retained. We may co-mingle tellers so all of our customers become familiar with both Merchants and Farmers employees. However, our employees are still local people who may be your neighbor, relative or friend.

4. Will the same products and services be offered?
Yes. We do anticipate some improvement in services. The management team from both Banks will evaluate all products offered and determine which best suit our customer’s needs. We will notify you of any changes to their account terms, if they occur.

5. Will I experience any immediate change to my checking and savings accounts?
No. Our goal is to minimize changes to your accounts so you do not need to take any action at this time. We will take care of any changes for you and notify you if any changes occur.

6. Can I keep my current account numbers or routing numbers?
Yes. There will be no immediate change to account or routing numbers for 99% of our customers. If your numbers are among the few to be changed, you will be notified well in advance.

7. Can I continue using my current checks and deposit tickets?
Yes. Please continue using your current checks and deposit tickets. A very small percentage of customers will need their numbers changed, and will be notified well in advance. Those customers will also be provided with a complimentary order of new checks and deposit tickets.

8. Can I continue using my current ATM, debit or check card?
Yes, please continue using your current ATM, debit, or check card. Once the merger is complete, new cards will be issued free of charge with the new bank name and logo. Customers will have to reset their password.

9. Will I have to change my direct deposit or direct debit information?
No. We will provide any changes in information to the originator of your deposit or debit.

10. Do I need to change my Internet bill payment information?
Merchants’ customers – No Farmers’ customers – Yes. You will need to update your bill payer information. This is secured information so the customer will need to do this change. If you need assistance, a customer service representative will be happy to help you.

11. Can I continue to use my online banking services in the same way?
Yes, please continue to bank online using your current user name and password, until notified otherwise.

12. What will happen to the Rate and Term of my IRA, CD, and Loan?
Your accounts will retain their current term and rate. If your CD or IRA matures after the merger, you will have the option to renew it for the same term, however, as always it will be subject to the new rate.

13. Can I still bank at my current branch?
Yes, continue banking as usual at your current branch. As our institution grows so will our office locations throughout Armstrong County including a new full-service office in Leechburg.

14. As a Farmers bank customer, can I use The Merchants National Bank offices now?
No. We will let you know as soon as you will be able to use the new office locations. In the meantime, continue using your current Farmers National Bank offices.

15. As a Merchants bank customer, can I use The Farmers National Bank offices now?

16. Will there be any changes to my account statement?
Yes. The format and appearance may change, but the information reported will be the same. Image Statements provide a faster, easier, and more convenient way to manage your checking account. Checks will be available for you to view on a daily basis online.

17. Will the FDIC still insure my bank account after the close of the merger?
Yes, the FDIC insures both Merchants National Bank and Farmers National Bank.

18. What if my combined balance from both Farmers National Bank and Merchants National Bank exceeds $100,000, am I still insured under the FDIC?
If a depositor has exceeded the $100,000 FDIC limit, there are ways for their coverage to be increased. Please speak to one of our customer service representatives.
